Where to Elope in Vermont

There are so many beautiful venues in Vermont for your romantic elopement, from rustic barns, intimate venues, magical gardens and charming B&B's to opulent mansions and five star resorts. Below are a list of a few of my favorite venues, where I have photographed weddings and/or elopements and a description of what each one offers. Most of these venues are also available for large weddings, but since this page is about your Vermont elopement I have focused on their elopement packages.

The Windsor Mansion Inn, Windsor, Vermont

Beautiful 1902-built mansion, The Windsor Mansion Inn was completely renovated, and restored in late 2016 is filled with elegance and history. This home was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens a family friend and the most renowned Sculptor in US history.

Set on 15 acres, with a multi-tiered terrace, culminating with a custom-made 12-person firepit overlooking Mt. Ascutney, Lake Runnemede, and the Mountains of New Hampshire. Only 15 minutes to Woodstock and Quechee, about 20 minutes to Dartmouth College. Spectacular views, spacious rooms, and over 5,000 sf of indoor event area and outdoor space to accommodate any large event. Weddings up to 130 people to romantic, intimate elopements.

The Grafton Inn, Grafton, Vermont

West Mountain Inn, Arlington, Vermont

Nestled on 150 mountainside acres overlooking the Battenkill Valley, the century old West Mountain Inn has been welcoming couples with warmth and hospitality for over 30 years. The Inn offers romantic, antique filled guest rooms, mountain views, lush gardens and farm fresh dining prepared with local, seasonal ingredients. At The Inn at Manchester, the pleasures are simple. Awake to the sweet smell of a home-cooked breakfast wafting into your room, enjoy a front row view of the Green Mountains from their classic front porch, take a dip in their secluded pool or warm up with a cocktail in their cozy, living-room-style pub with old and new friends.

Boorn Brook Farm, Manchester, Vermont

Boorn Brook Farm in Manchester, Vermont offers a unique and intimate elopement experience. This is an amazing elopement venue surrounded by the Lye Brook National Forest with three miles of groomed hiking trails and a 360 degree view of Equinox Mountain and the Green Mountains. Boorn Brook Farm also has the capabilities for large events (up to 300 guests in a tented reception area) and small weddings and/or rehearsal dinners (up to 75 guests) in the romantic barn. The barn also serves as a pre-ceremony reception area with a beautiful bridal suite for getting ready and night accommodations and full kitchen. The estate is also home to the Green Mountain Falconry School.

The Barnard Inn, Barnard, Vermont

Whether you’ve been dreaming of an elegant outdoor tented affair, a rousing dance in their renovated barn, or an intimate winter gathering, The Barnard Inn chef-driven events are curated for you by their friendly and professional staff. The historic property offers a 1796 brick chateau, newly renovated reception barn, and acres of perennial gardens and paths to explore and enjoy for your ceremony, reception and photography session.

The setting is like visiting an English Country Garden with a kitchen garden, perennial borders, split rail fences and picturesque views across the hills. Although lodging is not included, The Barnard Inn offers full service catering by Chef Will Dodson and a truly magical and romantic setting.

The Woodstock Inn, Woodstock, Vermont

Set in the heart of Woodstock, Vermont, The Woodstock Inn invites you to wander along welcoming Main Street, browse restaurants and charming boutiques. Here, thoughtful authenticity blends seamlessly with a classic resort experience to evoke a timeless elegance.

Although The Woodstock Inn is world famous as a wedding destination resort, it is still avaialbe for small weddings and elopements. Elopement ceremonies on the front lawn or back garden are very polar and if the weather is not accommodating the garden room makes a lovely setting. As with all Woodstock, Vermont wedding venues the opportunities for your wedding photography are endless, from the Middle Bridge and The Ottaquechee River to Billings Farm.

Twin Farms, Barnard, Vermont

Having photographed several elopements at Twin Farms, it is one of my most recommended Vermont wedding and elopement venues. A ceremony by the lake, on the top of the hill or inside the elegantly appointed great room, a stroll down the tree line lane and a private dinner in the wine cellar. Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home, Manchester, VT

Located in the scenic Vermont village of Manchester, Hildene is a truly unique wedding and elopement destination.

A wedding at Hildene is about more than being at one of Vermont’s most beautiful estates. You and your guests deserve an authentic Vermont experience and you will begin that experience by walking through The Lincoln Family Home to your wedding ceremony in their historic formal garden. From high on a promontory, you look out to the Taconic Mountains to the west and the Green Mountains to the east, with stunning views of rolling fields and the famed Battenkill River Valley 300 feet below.

Although Hildene is one of the premier wedding destination venues in Vermont, you can book your elopement there as well and have a small gathering on the beautifully landscaped grounds and an intimate dinner on the grand terrace overlooking the formal gardens.
