Vermont Class of 2021 Senior Photo Sessions

Woodstock, Vermont Photo Session With Kelsey

I did Kelsey's high school senior photographs when she was a student at Kimball Union Academy in 2018 and here is a link to the session we did back then: KUA High School Senior Photo Session. Then she came along earlier this summer with her friend Luke, another Kimball Union senior (class of 2021) and we did some photos of the two of them playing out a GOT theme. Luke also had an amazing senior photo session and I will be posting his blog soon.

All my high school seniors and other clients get their finished photos in both black and white and color so there is no need to decide between the two. As a rule my seniors will end up with about 50 different, fully edited, high resolution jpgs on a USB thumb drive from a two hour session all included in the session investment.

I especially love photographing seniors and other clients here at my property in Woodstock, VT, as I know the light anytime of day, there are many, many different locations and I have landscaped the property with photo shoots in mind. Class of 2021 seniors can use the studio for studio styled photos and also the pond, apple orchard and woods for a more natural high school senior portrait. We can do it all! Here are some of Kelsey in the apple orchard on the new swing I had made. Since it was mid-day, the light was super harsh and there was a large "hot spot" behind the swing so I was able to set up one of my studio backdrops to block the light and add a bit of an editorial feel to the photos.

Whenever I photograph high school seniors I always try and add a few detail images as well. Sometimes my Vermont and/or New Hampshire seniors like to have photo books made of their sessions and these little detail photographs always add a more editorial feel to the book or album.

Even with the midday sun I always have shaded areas where we can do portrait photographs and one of my favorite shady places is under the maple trees with the forest in the background. I can do portrait photography here anytime of day as the trees are very large and provide shade all day long.

After photographing Kelsey for about 45 minutes she changed into her ballgown and wow! Unfortunately the time was running out so we were only able to photograph her in one location as she also brought another amazing gown she wanted her portrait in. This location is also under some shade trees and allows a little more room for swirls and movement. I can just see "the twirl" on the cover of Vermont Bride or as an editorial in Vogue.

Here are a few more photos of Kelsey in this amazing ballgown. If you are thinking of having your high school senior photos done with me, please by all means bring your prom dress or suit as well as some casual clothing if you are at all interested in getting some high fashion looking photos like these. Practice your twirls or that GQ pose and I promise we will get some amazing photos!

After some photos in that "fairy tale ballgown", Kelsey changed into another absolutely stunning gown that was so colorful and sparkly, it made me think of a mermaid. We could have gone down to the stream but the time was running out so we photographed it by the 'English Garden' railing and also on the hill between the stone walls and statues. Seriously I think some of those photos would rival almost any Vogue or Vanity Fair fashion shoot. Just imagine your high school senior photo in your prom dress between the Griffins.  This particular shot has to be done just before sunset unless it is a cloudy day and when Kelsey was here, the clouds seem to come the minute she put the dress on and we were able to take advantage of that location.

There is still time to book your Vermont or Upper Valley New Hampshire high school senior portrait session. I can guarantee a turnaround time of one week! Please feel free to message or call me anytime to discuss all the class of 2026 senior photo possibilities. I will also travel to you, but feel the photos you receive will be much better if you come to Woodstock as it is a location I am extremely familiar with and I have all my studio equipment avaialbe should the need arise.
