Allie and Beth had a small family wedding at Simon Pearce, Quechee, Vermont, but the pre-wedding photos started in Hanover, NH. The couple met at Dartmouth College, so they wanted some photos of them on the campus before the wedding ceremony. Since they wanted to be near Dartmouth, they stayed at The Hanover Inn, which is another beautiful wedding destination here in the Upper Valley.
We started with a few detail photos in the room.

Here are a couple photographs of their wedding dresses. Beth had not seen Allie's dress, so it was going to be a surprise at the First Look, but since Allie had already seen Beth's dress I took the photo with both of them reflected in the mirror behind.
While Beth was getting dressed I noticed her reflection in the make-up mirror, so I thought that might be an interesting way to show off the back of her wedding dress.
Although I tend to use a lot of black and white images in my wedding blogs, my couples always get their wedding photographs in both color and black and white.
After Beth was dressed she went with Gael, my second shooter to the First Look location. We decided to have this in the well lit atrium inside the Hanover Inn, however there was a conference in the next room that was about to get out, so we were a tad rushed when it came time for the actual session.
Meanwhile, back in the room Allie was getting dressed with the help of her beautiful mother. I did not get as much time as I would have liked as I mentioned above, Gale had texted me with the information regarding the conference. We always keep in touch during our weddings this way, if not to check in with our locations but also for heads up on other situations one of us might not be aware of.
So after Allie was dressed we hurried down for the First Look.
The stairway was so beautiful and the room so well lit, we decided to try a very quick photo session on the stairway before the conference was over...once again, a tad rushed but the girls were amazing and I think we came away with some fun pre-wedding photos. I quickly ran up the stairs to do a few romance portraits of the girls through the fig tree and then had them go up the stairs and come down for the other photos.
From the atrium we headed out to the lobby of The Hanover Inn. I ran ahead to photograph the girls coming out the hotel doors while Gael stayed behind to get some photographs of their wedding dresses from the back as they walk through the hotel.
Then we had a pre-wedding ceremony romance session in front of Dartmouth College before heading off to Simon Pearce.
While we were waiting for the ceremony to begin it was the perfect time to get a few detail photographs of the dining room that was set up for the girls wedding reception. This room is always so lovely and it is perfect for smaller weddings and elopements here in beautiful Vermont.
Then the ceremony began and as always, wiht tow professional wedding photographers, we were able to photograph it from different locations at the same time.
After the girls were bustled I noticed them in the doorway to the reception and with my off camera light already set up, I was able to capture this tender moment between them before they joined their guests at the cocktail party.
Cocktails and houderves were served in the upstairs function room while we photographed the formals and families in the private dining room.
Although we were not to be treated to one of those amazing sunsets I have photographed so often here, we did have some beautiful early evening light and we took Allie and Beth onto the deck for a couple wedding photos with the Ottaquechee River as our backdrop.
After dinner the girls visited some of the guest tables before the cake cutting and first dance.
I thoroughly enjoy small family style weddings and elopements and although I am almost fully booked for larger 2109 weddings, I still have several openings for these small weddings and elopements.
